BRC Food issue 7 – Understanding the Requirements

Course outline:

This two-day training course gives technical, quality and operations staff from manufacturers, retailers, and food service companies a clear understanding of the protocols and requirements of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7, including audit planning, and the events during and after the audit.

Before the course you must have read and reviewed a copy of the Standard.

At the end of the course you will be assessed by an exam.

The course is aimed at:

  • Staff from manufacturers, retailers, and food service companies – production, technical, and quality
  • Consultants

At the end of the course you will:

  • Understand the background and benefits of the Standard
  • Understand the details of the scheme including:
  • Audit scope and planning for the audit
  • How much time will be spent carrying out the GMP and Document Review Audits
  • The enrollment program
  • Have a detailed knowledge of the requirements including fundamental clauses and statements of intent
  • Understand how an audit is closed, what corrective actions are and how certificates are issued
  • Know about different audit options that are available including Options 1 and 2 of the unannounced scheme
  • Understand the current compliance monitoring of certification bodies by the BRC
  • Understand the benefits of being listed on the BRC Directory

Course outline:

This two-day course has been designed to enable delegates to gain a full understanding of the requirements of Issue 5, including the objectives of fundamental clauses and statements of intent. Delegates will learn how audits against the Standard operate including preparation, the audit, non-conformties, corrective actions and certificate issue.

Before the course you must have read and reviewed a copy of the Standard. A good technical knowledge of the packaging industry is essential.

  • Manufacturers
  • Technical and Quality Managers
  • Consultants and BRC Approved Training Providers

At the end of the course you will:

  • Understand the background and benefits of the Standard
  • Understand the details of the audit and certification programme
  • Be able to determine audit scope and plan an audit
  • Know about having an audit, non-conformities and corrective actions
  • Know how to report issues, use the BRC Global Standards Directory and BRC Participate
  • Understand the BRC Global Standards compliance programme

BRC Internal Auditor

Course outline:

This two-day course will enable you to undertake internal audits and prepare companies for third party audits. It’s delivered via a series of workshop-led discussions, presentations and an interactive case study. During the live case study, you will be given feedback and support to enable you to carry out an audit at your own workplace.

You will be assessed throughout the course (50%) and you will also need to undertake a work place audit and submit an audit report for assessment (50%). You will need to gain a 75% pass for this assessment.

The course is aimed at:

  • Quality and technical managers
  • Operations managers
  • Staff responsible for managing an internal auditing schedule
  • Staff responsible for undertaking internal audits as required by BRC Global Standards

At the end of the course you will:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of auditors
  • Be able to plan and conduct an internal audit
  • Know how to write concise, accurate and factual audit reports
  • Be able to undertake audit follow-up activities
